Why are we crying?

Tears on our face may mean that we are desperate, angry, anxious or happy. But they are necessary to protect the eyes. Since birth encourage a whole range physical and chemical reactions that allow the infant to survive. There are many different ways of crying: dry cry without tears, tears because of pain, and cry when we have a foreign body in the eye, person may pretend to cry - something that used to be part of many cultures, and is everyday life in today 's films.

Eyelids as wipers

Most typically about the cries are watery eyes. The four small glands located on both sides of the eyes are constantly secreting tears that wet and protect the cornea. With the covers they are distributed evenly in a thin layer and are directed towards the channels from where they plum into nose for the body to re- absorb them again. When you get a piece of dust into the eye or something else tear glands secrete larger amounts of tears as stream which removes the foreign body to the nose until is completely removed, and the surplus of tears are rolling down the face. Tears are secreted more than usual when the eyes are exposed to certain physical or chemical stimuli. For example, over expression of light, the irritating gas ( tear gas ), certain plants ( onions ) and others.

The cries of a newborn

Infant cry is something completely different. There are no tears, because the development of tear gland ends in 3-4 months. During the first months of life it is the only way a baby can tell to the mother that is hungry, something hurts him and if it's lonely.  After the first months of life until the adulthood, with the cry we are expressing pain or feeling.

How we are starting to cry

Crying is exceptionally personal attribute. In each of us there is " emotional threshold ", which will be overcome when the tears start. The same applies to the cries of pain. The threshold depends on the age and experience, so for the child is just enough to take the toy from him to start crying, on a soldier that is coming back from war needs more to start crying. For women tears often represent a way of survival, and for men crying is rather an expression of weakness.

And those who never cry are shedding two liters of tears per year.

Crocodile tears

According to one legend crocodile cry after he will turn apart a man, because he bitterly regret :), so the term " crocodile tears " is used as a false regret. Actually crocodile did not cry because he has no lacrimal ducts. For his tears is talking because for the transparent membrane at the end of the eye, which when opened resembles a tear.
