It requires no special introduction for this article, it is 10 common medical misconceptions that certainly at least once you've heard in your life, in some of them people still believe, but not for long :-)
1. USING ONLY 10 % OF OUR BRAIN
This theory is often " attributed " to Albert Einstein, but actually that's not true and the myth that we only use 10 % of the brain is not true to. The theory is actually devised in the early years of the 20th century in order to raise morale and confidence in people. The medical research has proven that there is no part or segment of the brain that is completely inactive! So stop waiting for " other 90% " to activate and start working.
2. VITAMIN C WHEN WE ARE SICK
We are witnessing that when you get sick, get cold, catch flu and so on. " Main " recommendation of the doctors and the common man is to take more vitamin C. All that's fine, but I will say that it is too late. Vitamin C has an impact on strengthening our immune system and many other benefits, but once you get sick there is no single scientifically proven document or study that confirms its role in our recovery. So get fruits and vegetables in your hand, now and immediately, after you get sick it there is no use of it!
3. ACNE ARE " CAUSED " OF CHOCOLATE
Who had a problem with acne certainly heard that you should not eat chocolate because of it you are getting acne. So you can calm down, sweet pleasure wrapped in foil has no proof that aggravates acne. This misconception probably dating from the baby- boom generation, when the children had more acne than their parents, so easily and perhaps logically it was to connect those two things. Nevertheless, to reiterate, this is not true, acne occur with blockage of the pore of the tallow gland whose secretions serve as a lubricant for our skin. First " suspect " factor for their occurrence are hormones and genetics, and certain drugs ... however, it is not the chocolate.
4. ACNE (2): ACKNE AND WASHING FACE
Another misconception about acne is that with frequently washing your face you can reduce the risk of acne. Yes with regularly washing but often or too often washing face will lead only to backfire ie will stimulate the sebaceous glands to excrete more of their secretion.
5. COFFEE RAISES BLOOD PRESSURE
Yes, we agree with the theory. In fact it is the correct theory. What most do not know is the truth, at first caffeine and its central effect (causes vasoconstriction) leading to an increase in pressure, but a little later comes more to the fore of its peripheral effect, and it is vasodilatation because of which occurs drop in blood pressure. Therefore careful with coffee and do not use it as replacement for medications when you want to regulate the blood pressure.
6. CARROTS IMPROVE VISION
Intriguing myth that we encounter since from young age. I should clarify; the carrot is rich in vitamin A but has no "power" to improve our vision. It is interesting the story about the beginnings of this myth which after they took a wide swing. During the Second World War, the British spread rumors about the secret of their pilots that success in toppling the enemy is because they ate a lot of carrots. Success actually owed on their radar, and the goal of these rumors was to hide then the new invention, the radar. They succeeded.
7. SHAVING HEAD WILL CONTRIBUTE TO SHARPER, DARKER HAIRS AND FASTER GROWTH
There is not much to explain about this error but that is a misconception. The reason why some still believe in this is the 'optical deception "of the newly grown hair that seems sharper (which is quite normal) and darker, but not for long, since you have not yet took the dose of sunlight ie over time under the influence of the sun 's rays hair will be at it's "old color ". Today there are too many preparations for nourishing hair so no need for such conservative methods.
8. DRINK AT LEAST 8 GLASSES OF WATER A DAY
This amount when we present in liters are about to come that is as much as the body needed for the whole day. But it is not true that we need to drink 8 glasses of water throughout the day whether you are thirsty or not. This intransigence I begin to think it is propaganda of makers of water. Yes, 8 glasses of water a day is necessary for our bodies, but we do take the same amount with our food, and with different drinks, and this fact is skill-fully avoided. It is very simple; drink when you're thirsty and don’t when you are not!
9. IT TAKES 7 YEARS CHEWING GUM TO GO THROUGH OUR STOMACH AND INTESTINE.
Truth is that a lot of adults actually believe in it. Chewing gum is indigestible ie stomach does not erode on simpler compounds, it is true, but that does not stop the gum together with other food to pass through our gastro intestinal tract - and do no get stuck somewhere and it is coming out of the opposite end in 2-3 days, in the same form in which it entered.
10. FRESH IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN FROZEN
Almost automatically, frozen food is considered as a second-class and poor. The truth is that sometimes frozen food has better quality than fresh. Fruits and vegetables when they are ripe and when they have the greatest nutritional value are harvested and frozen, and low temperature highly successful “ store “ nutrients and almost not loses its nutritional value. While fresh fruits that are at the shelves and stalls and that we always put in the foreground, can under the influence of heat, moisture and other external factors to lose a good deal of its nutritional value.
